FAQs
- The Safe-T Torch™ system, which includes the enclosure, mounting bracket and strap, supply hoses, torch body, torch attachment, and 18V battery (sold separately with a designated compartment in the case), should be transported in the supplied protective case to prevent damage to the components. The 25’, 50’, or 100’ hose assemblies can be looped and carried separately.
- The enclosure should be securely mounted on an oxygen cylinder using the provided mounting plate and strap, or the mounting plate should be fastened directly to a wall capable of holding 11lbs or 5kg. See the Component video and Setup video, download the Component PDF and Setup PDF manuals, or refer to the supplied manual included with your Safe-T Torch™ system.
- No regular maintenance is required other than to wipe down the enclosure using a damp cloth. Never use chemicals or oil-based cleaning agents. Never allow hydrocarbon (oil, grease) materials to come into contact with any of the Safe-T Torch™ system enclosure, hoses or brass connection points. It is important, however, to ensure the Safe-T Torch™ system is functioning properly by following the proper setup procedure. View the Setup video, download the PDF manual, or refer to the manual included with your Safe-T Torch™ system.
- Before each use, inspect the device for any visible damage or signs of wear. See the Setup video, download the PDF manual, or refer to the manuals included with your Safe-T Torch™ system.
- If a leak is suspected, a leak test should be conducted before using the system. View the instructions for performing a leak test.
- After each use inspect the enclosure, hoses, sleeve and the torch body handle and torch attachment for any visible signs of damage or wear. If you suspect any damage, perform a leak test. You can check for leaks by following the instructions provided in the leak test. You can view these instructions, or refer to the manual included with your Safe-T Torch™ system.
- General outdoor weather conditions where the enclosure is subject to rain and snow are permissible subject to the following:
- The Safe-T Torch™ system operates effectively within a temperature range of -20 to +50 degrees Celsius (5 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit) and up to 93% relative humidity. It’s crucial to highlight that this temperature range applies to the Safe-T Torch™ system only. Individuals, when working in very cold or hot environments, should exercise extreme caution and take personal health and well-being into consideration.
- The system should never be used in areas classified as Hazardous environments, as it is not tested or certified to be used in such locations.
- The Safe-T Torch™ enclosure shall be operated exclusively with the Safe-T Torch™ handle.
- The Safe-T Torch™ enclosure should be protected from direct water spray of any kind and never be immersed in water.
- The system is intended to be used with a certified 18V DC battery.
- It is intended to be used with Oxygen and Acetylene, Natural Gas, Propane and Propylene.
- Maximum operating altitude of 2000 meters or 6500 feet.
- Reasonable care should be taken to protect the enclosure from the elements to extend its service life.
- Set the pressure to:
- Maximum 60 PSI for Oxygen
- Maximum 15 PSI for Fuel
- Most batteries have light indicators for checking the capacity. Check the battery before use and refer to the battery manufacturers’ “Safety and Use” manual for detailed instructions.
- If the battery is damaged or is not charging, contact the battery manufacturer for warranty or repair instructions.
- Refer to the installation manual supplied with your purchase or download the Setup PDF manual and see the installation video.
-
- The enclosure bracket should be fastened either to an Oxygen bottle using the strap provided or secured to a permanent structure with fasteners. View our Resource Center for detailed instructions.
- After securing the bracket, slide the enclosure onto the bracket. View our Resource Center for detailed instructions.
- Fasten the enclosure bracket to the oxygen cylinder 10-12 inches (25-35 centimeters) below the regulator. View our Resource Center for detailed instructions.
- After setting up the Safe-T Torch™ (following setup procedures),
- Ensure the Emergency Stop on the enclosure is pulled out by twisting to release.
- Pull the trigger on the Safe-T Torch™ handle to pressurize the hoses (both green and red lights on the enclosure will be illuminated), and light the torch as you would normally. View our Resource Center for detailed instructions.
- The flame will extinguish in a few seconds and the torch will be rendered safe.
Please note, this does not replace the proper torch use protocols from the torch manufacturer.
- Shut off the supply gases from the cylinders or manifold. With the torch handle valves open, pull the trigger on the torch handle and hold it until the red lights turn off, indicating that the entire system is now purged and rendered safe. Then release the trigger and close the valves on the torch handle. View our Resource Center for detailed instructions.
- Contact us by phone or email so we can assess the extent of the damage. We may send out a kit to repair the damaged sleeve. If the damage is extensive, you can send the hose assembly to us or any of our distributors for repair.
Check the following:
- Is the Emergency Stop button pulled out?
- Is the enclosure operating in an environment with a temperature range of -20 to +50 degrees Celsius (5 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit) and up to 93% relative humidity?
- Does the battery have enough power and is it inserted all the way into the battery holder?
- Does the green light turn on when the Safe-T Torch™ trigger is pulled in? If it does not:
- Check if the control cable or the trigger handle is damaged.
- Do the red lights turn on, indicating the lines to the torch handle are pressurized? If they do not:
- Is the torch handle trigger pulled in?
- Are the cylinder or manifold valves open and are there enough pressurized Oxygen or Fuel available?
- Are the supply hoses, Safe-T Torch™ assembly or control cable damaged?
- If everything is working properly and any of the lights on the enclosure are not coming on, stop working immediately and contact us or any of our distributors for repair.
